Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast

First off let me say I was super excited to try this new product.  I love their Perfect Hair Day Dry shampoo.  I picked the Full Dry Volume Blast up today at Ulta.  The salesperson had to get it from the back, as it’s not coming out until tomorrow.  I was so anxious to try it, I didn’t get the free gift that comes with it.

It’s suppose to give you instant, lasting volume and texture. All it gave me was a rat’s nest.

What a ginormous disappointment. I have naturally curly hair that I usually straighten.  As I’ve been going through menopause, my hair has really changed. My hair is very fine, and dry to begin with.  I need volume like crazy, but this product blows.  While it did add some volume, it made my hair feel like straw. I couldn’t even get my fingers through my hair. I feel like I have a bale of hay on my head.  I went outside and it basically fell and frizzed out. I’m washing it out tomorrow.

It’s $29 for 7.5 ounces.  Maybe it might work on a different type of hair, but it didn’t do a darn thing for me.

  1. Don’t you just hate trying new “products”? I have been using Garnier Fructis Full & Plush shampoo and conditioner for several months now and am pretty happy with the results. I tried something (I forgot what) before but, after some time it made my hair like straw too. This stuff does give me some volume and my hair feels soft and natural. I think you are right; it depends on your hair.

    • I’m always trying something new. Menopause has really changed my hair. I have naturally curly fine hair, and it’s super dry now. I’ll have to try the Garnier, at least it’s not too expensive if it’s a fail!

  2. You actually made me laugh out loud when you said you couldn’t get your fingers through your hair! I have the same kind of hair as you, so I know what you’re talking about! I liked your post on your Panama vacation, too. Thanks so much for your “follow.” I’m following you also, and I can’t wait to read more!!!

    • Thanks so much for the kind words. Panama was a lot of fun. I’m so glad I don’t smoke, as my hair was highly flammable after using that spray! Plus it was expensive, like $29. I took it back the next day.

  3. Thank you for following my blog. Sorry to hear your trial was an epic fail. Like you I have tried everything. In the end I found a brilliant hairdresser, and though it’s pricey at least I can look at my thin fine hair (which changed dramatically after menopause, and seemed never to stop falling out), and smile. My hair is a short bob style, layered and coloured. It works for me and usually looks pretty good. I use Kerastase shampoo and conditioner etc. but it comes at a price. I wish you luck on your hunt for the right products for you.

    • Thanks! I had one stylist tell me to look on Pinterest for updo hairstyles because she couldn’t do anything with my hair. That was after I had spent $200 for a cut and color. Ouch! I color my hair myself, because I was spending big bucks having partial highlights, and you couldn’t even tell. My current stylist does a good job, but I can never blow dry my hair straight like she does. I’ve been using Rogaine for 16 years, and that does make your hair dry. My current stylist is very young, and doesn’t have any customers with hair like mine. It would be be so nice to wear my hair down and straight without being a frizzy mess. I went to an older stylist who couldn’t do anything either. A gal I was going to for about three years was doing a great job, until she ruined my hair. Its never been the same since. I wear my hair up all the time because its easier. I’ve tried going shorter, but my head is too big. I’m just a sad sack! Oh well, at least my make up looks pretty good. LOL!
