Covergirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation review
Happy Thursday! I haven’t posted in awhile as lots of personal stuff going on. I’ve had to scale back my weekly visits to Ulta, (which is killing me), but I did visit last week and got some great stuff.
Full disclosure, I’m not a big fan of full coverage foundation. I have good skin for my age, and only spot conceal and use loose powder. I was in Ulta and had a ton of coupons, along with their buy one get one 50% off sale going on, so it was time to try some new things. CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Classic Ivory. I rarely use liquid foundation, and am a lover of powder foundation when I use it. I have mature skin and a few spots that need covering. This product was $10.99 at Ulta, but I paid $5.50 with coupons and store specials. It’s one ounce and has an SPF of 20.
Here’s Ulta’s description- The Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation longwear that keeps you all day flawless. Longwear designed to stay fabulous all day because it has concealer and primer built in. Smooth, even coverage. SPF 20.
I’m always skeptical of 3 in 1 products. Rarely do they do as advertised. I was happily wrong on this foundation. The claim of a primer, concealer and foundation was spot on. I didn’t have to use concealer under my eyes, and barely had to use concealer elsewhere. I have dark circles, and this foundation totally covered them. The coverage last all day. I wish the SPF was higher, like a 30, as I use a moisturizer with a 30 SPF daily. This has great coverage but is not too thick. I have good skin, so I don’t have a lot I need to cover up. Plus the price can’t be beat. I will be buying this again. The picture I have was at lunchtime, no need to touch up.

I’m 58 and don’t have too many wrinkles. It was great not having to use concealer under my eyes, as it always seems to settle in the many lines I have. Typical car photo, and it’s April here in Southeastern Wisconsin and I’m still wearing a winter coat! Oh, and my selfie skills suck! I heard on the radio that if you were born after 1980, you are likely to take 25,000 selfies in your lifetime. Yikes! Do people really want to see you that much? Of course my teenage son is constantly on Snapchat.

Touch’N Brow Shaver-Review
Happy Friday! I saw an online article awhile back about face shaving. While it struck me as rather odd, it really did make sense. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/438397344959697711/
I thought it seemed like a strange idea, until I read that both Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe shaved their faces.
Being a menopausal woman has it’s challenges. One of it being excess facial hair. I’ve tried all sorts of removal methods, most recently using the personal battery operated shavers. Those worked okay, but they don’t last very long.
I love these shavers! While they are made for your eyebrows, you can use them elsewhere on your body. A package of 3 cost me $5.29 at Sally Beauty.Touch n’ Brow shaver.
I do use these on my eyebrows, but they work great on my upper lip, checks, forehead, etc. They also exfoliate your skin, which besides the hair removal is a huge plus.
They are so easy to use. Just use on clean skin, you don’t need water or any type of shaving cream.

I wonder if these were around in the 1970’s? I use to use a Flicker and put cellophane tape over half of it and use it on my eyebrows. It worked for the most part, except the time I was in a hurry, and shaved off most of my right eyebrow. Not a good look for a 14 year old girl. Of course that was the same year I tried thinning out my crazy curly hair with some thinning shears, and cut most of my hair off the right side of my head. Yeah, for the entire ninth grade I wore my hair in a pony tail. It’s really funny because I didn’t use the Flicker on my legs. That and the fact I was pretty much stoned for all of the ninth grade. Hey, it was the 70’s!

Have a great weekend!
Ha ha! Cheeto Jesus you suck!

Japonesque Solid Brush Cleaner-Review
Happy Saturday! I admit, I hardly ever clean my make up brushes. I know it sounds gross, but I don’t have any skin issues, (other than getting old) so it’s never been an issue. I saw a post about this brush cleaner and thought I would give it a try. I’ve used liquid brush cleaners which worked okay, but they never seemed like they got the brushes that clean. That of course was when I actually would clean my brushes, like I don’t know, maybe once a year. Yuck! I don’t use my brushes for any liquid applications, so I didn’t think it was a big deal.
I bought this Japonesque Solid Brush Cleanser at where else, Ulta for $20. The package is two ounces, and I’m sure will last me for a very long time. I bought the unscented version, but it’s made with goat’s milk and smells delightful. I actually washed all 17 of my make up brushes. This soap did a great job and I used very little. I have an IT foundation brush that I use for powder foundation that probably was the dirtiest. That took several spins through to get really clean. The rest of my brushes, just one swipe. This really is a great product, and when I’ve used all of it in oh I don’t know ten years or so, I’ll definitely repurchase.
Here’s the description from Ulta’s website:
Maintain the beauty of your brushes with Japonesque’s gentle goat-milk cleansing balm in this Solid Brush Cleanser. Effective emollient formula quickly dissolves make-up and impurities to deep cleanse and condition your brush bristles for effortless professional brush cleaning. Freshly scented and coconut scented solid formulas deliver instant mess-free results and is the perfect travel-friendly cleansing companion.

Gravy-Is it wrong if I love you?
Happy Thursday! My husband was on vacation this week, lucky him. He cleaned out the basement and found a 10 year old photo of myself and our son. I apparently enlarged it to a 8×10. While I basically look the same, I was heavier back then and dressed like an old lady. I had two chins, I was wearing a camp shirt, way too old for my 47 year old self.
Upon closer inspection of the photo, I realized I only weigh 10 pounds less now than when the photo was taken. Back in 2009, I finally got my act together and lost 60 pounds in 10 months. Surprisingly, I only went down 4 sizes. I discovered thrift store shopping and reinvented my fashion sense.
Gone are the camp shirts and elastic waist pants. In their place chic cardigans and fitted jeans. While I’m currently not my ideal size, I try to dress nice and always have my hair and make up done.
Middle age and menopause are not kind to us women. I kept a majority of the weight off for several years, but the past year I gained back 20 pounds. That 20 was on top of the other 30 that found its way back to me.
Thank goodness for Goodwill, as I’ve purchased several pair of bigger jeans. I currently have four sizes of jeans in my closet. As my butt has gotten larger, surprisingly my top has not.
Here’s where the gravy comes in. My hubby does all the cooking at our house (lucky me). He made some braised beef with the most delightful gravy to ever touch my lips. I was having it for the second time this week. As I was enjoying my leftovers, the photo from 10 years ago was staring at me from the fridge, where my husband so thoughtfully put it on display. Damn, I need to go on diet. I did so well for six years after I lost all that weight, but life happens.
My 40th high school reunion is this year. I will lose the 35 pounds I need to get back to where I’ll be feeling good about myself. I joined a gym two months ago, but health issues have kept me from going. I know, it sounds like excuses, but being a 57 year menopausal woman ain’t easy. Thank god I have nice skin. On the plus size, I was small chested in high school, now I’m stacked. Ha ha!

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer Lift & Firm Review
Happy Wednesday! I came across this Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer Lift & Firm at Wal-mart for $8. Another blogger was talking about the Hard Candy primers and this seemed interesting. It claims to brighten and tighten facial contours along with moisturizing.
I used it today for the first time. I didn’t use a another moisturizer and this doesn’t contain an SPF. The tube is 1.3 ounces, and you don’t need a lot. I used a Laura Geller Baked powder foundation over it. I have to say I was very impressed. Here is the description on Hard Candy’s website:
Contains Vitamin C to help stimulate collagen and Olive Leaf Extract to help smooth skin while diffusing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
I took this photo this afternoon, after having the primer on for four hours, I thought it looked pretty good. Car photos are my favorite, as it’s the best natural light. Don’t mind my puffer coat, it’s ungodly cold here in Wisconsin.

Here’s another without the drug dealer sunglasses.

My selfie skills suck, as I’m pretty sure my head isn’t that big!

I think the next time I use it, I’ll use moisturizer first.
