It depends on your circumstance as to whether or not Obamacare has helped or hurt. It has not helped everyone but has helped those that qualify for subsidized health insurance. I voted for Obama hoping my rates would go down and I would have better coverage, instead shortly after he was elected I got a letter from my insurance company, the first line read “in anticipation of Obamacare we have asked the attorney general for a rate increase of 50%” your monthly premium will be adjusted accordingly” Well, they didn’t get quite as much of an increase as they asked for but my rate as an Independant Contractor went from $475 a month to $895 a month and for me it was unaffordable and I had to drop my health insurance. The reason I say it helps some and not everyone is that some people fall into a middle of the road category where you make to much to qualify for the lower rates and the plans that have the lower rates have deductibles of up to $10,000 with almost that much out of pocket. I could not justify paying that much per month and have such ridiculously high monthly premiums. I had to opt for no health insurance and instead have a health care account that I put money into every month but should anything happen to me I will not have enough to cover a major illness. I think in theory its a great idea but there are some kinks that need to be ironed out to make it a plan for everyone not just for a select few.

I agree. Thanks for your perspective.
