Thanksgiving reflections-good riddance to 2017

Happy Thanksgiving!  We had a lovely Thanksgiving with family and wonderful food.  2017 has been an interesting year for me.  I started the year with a job I loved, and was hoping to retire from.  That was not to be, as business dropped off and I had to find another job.  Then on January 20th, Donald Trump took office as president of the United States.  It’s been a never ending freak show every day. He is unequivocally the most unqualified person to hold office I have ever seen in my lifetime.  He is destroying the country I love, and is truly a threat to the safety of our citizens.  He has brought all of the ugliness to the surface and legitimized it.  People are so angry.

After the inauguration, I was sad and angry.  Now I am planning our escape.  While I have about five years to go before I can retire, I am ready to move elsewhere, preferably to another country.

I found another job in June. The months leading up to that were stressful as I was working two jobs and dealing with a knee injury. Now I am recuperating from knee replacement surgery and reflecting upon my life. I spent two weeks off from work after my surgery, and spent some great quality time with my family and dogs.

Nearing the end of my working career has me thinking about a lot of things. One being, spending money.  I love to do product reviews; however, I’ve decided to stop buying things I don’t really need.  I’m ready to downsize and not have so much stuff.

Now I’m on a mission to save as much money as I can, while paying off some obligations.  Christmas will be scaled back this year.  All I want for Christmas is a class to learn how to speak Spanish.  We are hoping to travel more in 2018.  Scouting out foreign locations for retirement is going to be fun.

I hope everyone has a great holiday season. Here’s hoping everyone has a better 2018.

Great fashion tips!

The holidays are fun, but when you’re the host of your friend group, they can also be pretty darn stressful. We’re all for having a merry time, but when there are dishes to prepare, tables to set, guests to entertain, and prep to do, it can be a little hard to get into the holiday…

November 2017 Ipsy Glam bag review

Hello!  Happy Saturday!  I’ve been MIA for awhile, as I’m recovering from surgery. A bright point this past week was receiving my November Ipsy glam bag.

I liked most everything I got, which usually isn’t the case.  I had a heck of a time finding pricing for everything I received.  Ipsy costs $10 a month.  You get five products, and your selection is based on your personal profile.  I have changed mine several times over the years.  Most of the products are deluxe sample size, but I always get at least one full size product.  This month I got three full size products!  Sweet!

Here is what I got:

Don’t know why it is sideways, must be the pain meds I’m on. Ha ha!  Ipsy is great about sending make up brushes.  I got a tapered highlight brush from slmissglam.  It’s so cute with it blue handle and blue rhinestones.  Next up is a gorgeous bronze loose eye shadow by Naked Cosmetics in Mother Nature.  It has tiny flecks of green and I can’t wait to try it on my blue eyes.  It retails for $14.99.

I’ve gotten many lip products from Colorpop over the years.  This month I got Ultra Satin Lip color in Calypso.  It’s a pretty pinky nude that retails for $6, this is full size.

I got a lip balm by Skyn Iceland Berry Lip fix, it was a deluxe sample, and just okay.

I also got a deluxe sample of IT Cosmetics CC+ foundation in light.  I have used this before and it offers great full coverage and  also can be used for a concealer.

All in all, I definitely got my money’s worth this month.  Thanks for stopping by.

Are you ready to be an expat? Great post by the Wondering Broski!

We are looking at retirement locations in South America, so this a very timely article.

An expat is by definition someone who’s chosen to leave their birth country to explore the world and find a country of adoption. You’d be surprised to know that there is a variety of reasons for people to want to move abroad and start a new life, from political to professional reasons. But the most […]
