Ipsy Glam Bag July 2018

Hello, and happy Sunday!  July’s Ipsy glam bag has some great items this month.

Here’s what I got:

Sundays full size nail polish #45-a pretty light blue shade. I threw on some dark blue polka dots for fun.  It’s a 10 free product, non toxic, vegan, cruelty free just to name a few. It’s valued at $18 USD.

Pacifica Coconut Blush in Beaming and Tenderheart full size. The darker shade would be nice for contouring and the rosy shade will look nice on my pale skin.

I got a deluxe size of Juliette has a gun perfume by Romano Ricci.  It’s a light floral fragrance which smells very much like my favorite, Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana.  From what I read, you can mix this with other fragrances.  It faded very quickly after I applied it.

I got some Whipped Argan Oil face butter by Josie Maran. I don’t know how whipped it is, but I’m a fan of argan oil overall.

Last but not least I received Eyeko London Travel size skinny liquid eyeliner in black.  I’ll be giving this to a friend, as the black is to dark for me.

Ipsy is $10 a month, which includes shipping.  You can change your profile, which I have several times over the years.  My July bag was valued well over the $10 I spent.  As with all of Ipsy glam bags, I got a shimmery teal cosmetic bag too.

Thanks for stopping by.

November 2017 Ipsy Glam bag review

Hello!  Happy Saturday!  I’ve been MIA for awhile, as I’m recovering from surgery. A bright point this past week was receiving my November Ipsy glam bag.

I liked most everything I got, which usually isn’t the case.  I had a heck of a time finding pricing for everything I received.  Ipsy costs $10 a month.  You get five products, and your selection is based on your personal profile.  I have changed mine several times over the years.  Most of the products are deluxe sample size, but I always get at least one full size product.  This month I got three full size products!  Sweet!

Here is what I got:

Ipsy Nov. 2017 Glam bag 11-15-17

Don’t know why it is sideways, must be the pain meds I’m on. Ha ha!  Ipsy is great about sending make up brushes.  I got a tapered highlight brush from slmissglam.  It’s so cute with it blue handle and blue rhinestones.  Next up is a gorgeous bronze loose eye shadow by Naked Cosmetics in Mother Nature.  It has tiny flecks of green and I can’t wait to try it on my blue eyes.  It retails for $14.99.

I’ve gotten many lip products from Colorpop over the years.  This month I got Ultra Satin Lip color in Calypso.  It’s a pretty pinky nude that retails for $6, this is full size.

I got a lip balm by Skyn Iceland Berry Lip fix, it was a deluxe sample, and just okay.

I also got a deluxe sample of IT Cosmetics CC+ foundation in light.  I have used this before and it offers great full coverage and  also can be used for a concealer.

All in all, I definitely got my money’s worth this month.  Thanks for stopping by.

May 2017 Ipsy Glam bag Review

Happy Hump day!  I haven’t reviewed an Ipsy bag for a while because the ones I had received lately were just meh!

This May bag is da bomb! I love everything in it, especially the bag.  It’s larger than usual. It could be used for an overnight cosmetic bag. It’s all ice cream cones and popsicles. Sweet!

Ipsy May 2017

Let’s get started.  First off, everything in my bag is cruelty free. Awesome sauce! I got Mannakadar Beauty Bronzer/Highlighter. Retails for $21 and is full size.  I’ll be using this as eyeshadow as I love the bronzer and the highlighter is a perfect color.

Adesse Organic Infused nail lacquer in light blue.  Perfect for summer and full sized, retails for $18.

Luxie Beauty brush number 660, precision foundation brush.  Super soft and full size, retail value $23.

Endless Silky Eye Pen Pixi by Petra in Opal Overcoat, a waterproof sparkly light amber color, should look great with my blue eyes.  It’s mini size valued at $6.

Last, but not least IT Super Hero black mascara.  It makes some amazing claims, check back later for a more in depth review. Retails for $12.

Total value of May’s bag-$80!  Wow!  It only cost $10.  I’ve been getting Ipsy bags since they started.  I was thinking of cancelling it, but not now!  Keep up the good work Ipsy!

Best Beauty products of 2016-at least for me anyway! LOL!

Happy New Year early!  I’ll be glad that 2016 is coming to an end.  It’s been a rough year here in the United States.  That being said, I did discover some great beauty products.

Here are my top ten picks for 2016.  Some products have been out for awhile, but I just discovered them. I’ve been using these products all year, and I must say I really like them all. So here goes.

Hope for Everywhere Concealer  I started using this in July. It’s a great under eye concealer by Philosophy.  It’s a bit pricey at $26 USD, but I got another tube on Ebay for $7.50.

Caption Nail Stamping OMG!  I’ve been having so much fun nail stamping.  I bought two kits at Ulta, but I see they don’t carry them anymore. I’ve used 4 of the 24 designs and get compliments all the time.

Julep Maven Beauty Box Subscription Where can you get great nail polish for free??? I signed up for a three month subscription and got a box of 12 full size bottles of Julep nail polish for free. You can pick what comes in your box, and I have to say the nail polish is fabulous. You can skip months as well.

Free gift for signing up!

POREfessional Face Primer by Benefit I’m so glad I watched the how to video for this on the Ulta website. It virtually makes pores disappear.  I also use it under my eyes to help cover up wrinkles. A little goes a long way.

Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Balm This stuff is awesome!  I bought this before we went on a tropical vacation.  I usually have eight or so lip colors in my purse at any given time. Since we were traveling for 10 days to two different countries, I wanted to streamline my make up. This lip balm is the perfect color and stays on really well. Plus you don’t need a mirror to apply it. The color Bountiful Blush would work on any skin tone.

Maybelline Super Stay Foundation This is a great powder foundation. While it doesn’t have an SPF, it covers well and smooths out your skin tone. It comes with a sponge applicator, and is great for travel.

Easy to carry, includes mirror

Super Nail Swiss Silk Nail Wraps These babies are a lifesaver. If you break a nail, just glue these wraps on and you are good to go. I have used them on nails that I have broken below the skin line.  They work great while your own nails grow out.

No Lift Nails Cuticle Oil This is some amazing stuff.  I’ve been using this daily for the past six months. I use a drop on each nail before I go to bed. It smells amazing and makes my nails really strong. I still have half a bottle left and it only cost $7 at Sally Beauty Supply.

Cuticle Oil 7-10-16

Smells so good!

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water This is one of my favorite products of 2016. I use to use make up removing wipes, but they never seem to be wet enough for me. This cleanser is so gentle, and it takes off eye make up as well.  It leaves your skin soft with no residue. I’ve been using this for a year , and I love it.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water 1-8-16

Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer I got a deluxe sample of this in my December Ipsy bag.  This turns any cream lipstick into a matte lip color.  I haven’t really jumped on the matte lip color bandwagon, but this product also has another great benefit.  You can use this around your lips to keep lip color from feathering. I’ve been using this daily and it works great. I have some lines around my mouth, and this makes them disappear. A super product.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I hope you enjoy some of my favorites.

October 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

I haven’t written an Ipsy review for months.  The bags I’ve been getting lately have been nothing special.  I was actually thinking of cancelling my subscription, but it’s only $10 a month and I’ve been getting it for years.

This month’s bag certainly made up for those recent stinkers.  Each bag has five items. The cosmetic bag is super cute with a Halloween theme. The bag was designed Valfre https://valfre.com/.

Let’s start with my favorite item this month. It’s a full size roller eau de parfum of Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker.  Its .34 ounces and retails for $20.  When I first opened it, I didn’t like it.  Then I put it on, holy cow, it smells wonderful. A wonderful crisp floral for fall.

Next up, an eyeshadow in Satin Taupe by BeauteBasics.  It’s a pretty shimmery taupe that really makes my blue eyes pop. It stays on all day.  I couldn’t find a retail price for the single shade, but it appears to be full size.

I got a full size Essence Superfine Eyeliner pen in black, which is waterproof.  It retails for $2.99.  Essence is a great drug store brand that is super affordable.  I’ve been using the nail polish for a few months and at $1.99 each, it’s a bargain.

Cosmoholic Liquid lipstick in Mysterious Mocha retails for $24.99, a pretty brownish color which would be flattering on any skin tone. The case has a built in mirror, which is always a plus.

Last but not least a deluxe sample of Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil .5 ounces.  It retails for $48 for 5.1 ounces, I valued the sample at $5.50.  I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s rated well.

ipsy-october-2016-glam-bag-10-14-16A great value at over $53 for only $10.  Way to go Ipsy for October 2016. Ipsy

Ipsy December 2015 Glam Bag Review

Season’s greetings! I haven’t written in a while.  I’ve been super busy with work and a new business I started making handmade cosmetics. So far so good, I’ll share more later when I get my website up to speed.

I got my five products this month and a special bonus.  I’ve been an Ipsy subscriber for four years.  Michelle Phan (the founder of Ipsy) sent me a nice note and an EM by Michelle Phan eye color palette.  The color is neutral, and I love it! It’s valued at $28.  It has six colors and they will all look lovely on my blue eyes. Thanks Michelle!

Here is a rundown of what I received this month:

Clark’s Botanicals Deep Moisture Mask, my skin is a bit dry now, so this will be a treat.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian clay finishing powder, a great travel size.

Peter Lamas Spa Sensuals Intensive Repair Hand Cream-a lovely citrus scented hand cream.

Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer by Elizabeth Mott-an easy to apply creamy primer.

Power of Love Natural Lipstick by Pacifica in Nudie Red-full size. The color is just okay.  It tastes and smells awful.  I’m making my own lip stick and balm, with a minimal amount of ingredients. The label says 100% vegan, but most of the ingredients I can’t pronounce. Maybe my teenage niece will like this.

Thanks for stopping by and Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Ipsy June 2015 Glam Bag-Review

Hello! Welcome to summer! June’s Ipsy bag was a mixture of great and just okay.  The bag itself is a black neoprene fabric. I’ll be saving this for the women’s shelter.  Here’s what was in my June bag:

Ipsy June 2014 Glam Bag Review Ipsy June 2014 Glam Bag Review.jpg-1The Healthy Body Butter in Pure Vanilla- I’m not big on food scented products, but I know my niece will like it.

JCats Liptitude Hydrating Lip Stain in Bead?-it’s a coral color that is better suited for Aunt Ethel. Yikes!

SmashBox Photo Finish Primer-I’ve used this before and like it. It’s a nice travel size.

Tre’Stique Mini Shadow crayon in Kona Coffee-A rich dark brown, too dark for me however.

And last but not least It Cosmetics Brow Power in Universal Taupe in the mini size. OMG! I love this brown pencil.  I’m always on the hunt for the next best eyebrow make up.  The color is perfect and it really stays on all day without fading. It’s a two ended pencil with color on one end, and a spooley brush on the other.

I don’t pay a lot of attention to my brows because I wear glasses. But I do think this color is very flattering on me.  I know I could use a good tweezing, but hey, I’m too flipping lazy.

All in all it was a decent bag.  I’m keeping the primer and brow color.  The rest are going to my niece. Not bad for $10!

Making a difference this Mother’s Day with Ipsy and Ulta

I had a lovely Mother’s day this year.  My husband took me out to dinner and gave me some great gifts. While I am most fortunate to have a wonderful husband and son, many moms are not.  We have a women’s shelter in the town I live in, and I knew I wanted to do something for them for Mother’s day.  I went on their website and looked at a wish list.  Lo and behold one of the wish list items is cosmetic bags.  I’m an Ipsy subscriber and have a ton of cosmetic bags, as I get a new one every month.  I didn’t have a huge inventory of them because I just sent a bunch to my teenage niece.

My husband gave me an Ulta gift card for Mother’s Day.  Well Ulta is my favorite store, and I needed some moisturizer, so off I went today.  I spoke with the manager and asked if they had any make up bags they could donate.  She said unfortunately that they only donate at the corporate level, but she did give me some perfume samples for the moms.  We got to talking and she said she has a ton of cosmetic bags herself and would gladly donate them to the shelter.  I gave her the wish list and she said she was going to ask her staff if they had any items to donate. She said just working at Ulta the salespeople get a ton of stuff. This is one of the reasonsMother's Day flowers 5-10-15 I love Ulta so much.  I used my gift card to buy some bath gel for all twelve of the ladies currently at the shelter.

I made a stop at Dollar Tree and bought 12 picture frames also.  Each cosmetic bag was different and had bath gel, a perfume sample and a small picture frame.  I also bought four dozen cookies from the bakery and some fruit punch so they could have a little party. I wrote a note of encouragement and wished them all well. I know it may sound like I’m bragging, but I only wanted to get this message out to anyone who likes to help others.  These are the lovely flowers my husband got for me at the farmer’s market.

Ipsy April 2015 Glambag Review

Ipsy April 2015 GlambagThe past few months my Ipsy bags have been a bit of a disappointment. So much in fact, I didn’t bother to review most of them.  Well this April bag made up for it.  I’ve been an Ipsy subscriber for 4 ½ years, and have generally been very happy with my monthly bags.  For $10 you really can’t go wrong.  I recently changed my profile, so that may have contributed to my better April bag.

Here is what I got:

Klorane Dry Shampoo with oat milk-$6.50-love the scent, works really well

Hikari Tango powder blush-full size-$15 a pretty matte pink coral

The Balm Nude Dude eyeshadow in Flirty-beautiful brown shade with flecks of gold-$4

Mica Beauty Cosmetic Eye Primer-$22.50-really makes the Flirty shadow pop on my blue eyes

Julie Nail Polish in Damsel-full size$3.99-vibrant fuchsia pink

Total value of April’s bag $51.99. I loved everything this month.  Nothing will be going to my niece’s goody bag this today.

In the photos I have on the eyeshadow, blush and eye primer.

Way to go Ipsy.com!

This is how much I love Ipsy.com!

I was just checking my Ipsy.com account and saw that I’ve been a subscriber since December 2011!  I knew that I had been getting my Glam bags for a few years, but didn’t realize just how long. How cool is that??

I just updated my profile and got a sneak peek at my March package, and I’m getting some great stuff!  I’ll review as soon as I get my pretty hot pink package!Ipsy Image
