Wet n Wild Reviews-Nail Polish, Balm Stain and Eye shadow primer

I’m really digging Wet N Wild these days.  I usually shy away from this brand due to the very low price. I.e. (crappy quality). So not true!  I was looking for an eye shadow primer, and did a little research on YouTube.  I tried Wet n Wild- Fergie’s Take on the day eyeshadow primer.  While I don’t have a problem with my shadow staying on all day, I do like making a color more intense. I had gotten a Mica Beauty eye primer in a recent Ipsy package. I loved how it worked, but had a reaction to it.  The ‘Take on the Day” works great.  You only need a small amount and I was able to intensify my eye shadow significantly. It was a bargain at Walgreens for only $3.79.

I bought the Megaslicks Balm Stain in Caffeine Fix for a whopping $1.99 during the same trip to Walgreens.  It’s a neutral color that is very moisturizing and easy to apply.  I love any kind of lip color that I don’t have to use a mirror to apply. A definite thumbs up!

Last but not least is the Wet N Wild Megalast salon nail color in On a Trip.  A pretty purple/cornflower blue color for $1.99 at Walgreens.  I haven’t really found the Wet n Wild line at most of my usual make up haunts. My favorite store Ulta doesn’t carry it. This polish is awesome!  There are 18 colors to choose from, but Walgreens only carried 8.  I have every color under the sun, but I saw a review by a fellow beauty blogger and thought I would give it a try.  This polish has a wide professional style brush, is Toluene & phthalate free.  It wears so well.  I’ve had it on for four days now, and it still looks great.  It is still as shiny as when I first applied it.  Walgreens has a sale going on right now, but one get one for 50% off.  I’ll be going there to get more for sure. Sorry about my man hands.  It’s such a pretty color, maybe my hands don’t look so ginormous after all.

Making a difference this Mother’s Day with Ipsy and Ulta

I had a lovely Mother’s day this year.  My husband took me out to dinner and gave me some great gifts. While I am most fortunate to have a wonderful husband and son, many moms are not.  We have a women’s shelter in the town I live in, and I knew I wanted to do something for them for Mother’s day.  I went on their website and looked at a wish list.  Lo and behold one of the wish list items is cosmetic bags.  I’m an Ipsy subscriber and have a ton of cosmetic bags, as I get a new one every month.  I didn’t have a huge inventory of them because I just sent a bunch to my teenage niece.

My husband gave me an Ulta gift card for Mother’s Day.  Well Ulta is my favorite store, and I needed some moisturizer, so off I went today.  I spoke with the manager and asked if they had any make up bags they could donate.  She said unfortunately that they only donate at the corporate level, but she did give me some perfume samples for the moms.  We got to talking and she said she has a ton of cosmetic bags herself and would gladly donate them to the shelter.  I gave her the wish list and she said she was going to ask her staff if they had any items to donate. She said just working at Ulta the salespeople get a ton of stuff. This is one of the reasonsMother's Day flowers 5-10-15 I love Ulta so much.  I used my gift card to buy some bath gel for all twelve of the ladies currently at the shelter.

I made a stop at Dollar Tree and bought 12 picture frames also.  Each cosmetic bag was different and had bath gel, a perfume sample and a small picture frame.  I also bought four dozen cookies from the bakery and some fruit punch so they could have a little party. I wrote a note of encouragement and wished them all well. I know it may sound like I’m bragging, but I only wanted to get this message out to anyone who likes to help others.  These are the lovely flowers my husband got for me at the farmer’s market.

NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm-Review

Let me start off by saying I’m a huge tinted lip balm fan.  I usually wear lipstick, but sometimes I just want the ease of swiping on some lip balm. I found this NYC Glossy Lip Balm in Chocolate Apple at my local Dollar Tree. I loved it.  I went back a few days later and bought all they had, which was twenty tubes. I do believe I have enough tinted lip balm to last me for the next 10 years. I’m sure I’ll be giving some away.

It is really creamy and I love the color.  Here is my high school graduation photo taken in 1976, and a current photo. As you get older your lips naturally get thinner. I’ve been wearing something, be it lip gloss, balm, lipstick or whatever on my lips for 44 years.  My mom was an Avon lady, so I started wearing lip gloss when I was 12. The point I’m trying to make is, your lips don’t have to get thinner as you age. I have some sort of moisturizer on my lips 24/7, and as a result of that, my lips have remained the same. Oh the NYC is usually $3, and I paid $1 each.  Yeah!

While I’m glad my lips have stayed the same size, I can’t say the same for my nose.  Must be from having allergies and always having a runny nose. Oh well, I guess there could be worse things. At least I have all of my original teeth! Ha!

And yes, I was trying to rock the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle that most girls had in 1976, that was as close as I could get with my naturally curly hair. Fresh from the salon for that one, never looked like that again.

Ipsy April 2015 Glambag Review

Ipsy April 2015 GlambagThe past few months my Ipsy bags have been a bit of a disappointment. So much in fact, I didn’t bother to review most of them.  Well this April bag made up for it.  I’ve been an Ipsy subscriber for 4 ½ years, and have generally been very happy with my monthly bags.  For $10 you really can’t go wrong.  I recently changed my profile, so that may have contributed to my better April bag.

Here is what I got:

Klorane Dry Shampoo with oat milk-$6.50-love the scent, works really well

Hikari Tango powder blush-full size-$15 a pretty matte pink coral

The Balm Nude Dude eyeshadow in Flirty-beautiful brown shade with flecks of gold-$4

Mica Beauty Cosmetic Eye Primer-$22.50-really makes the Flirty shadow pop on my blue eyes

Julie Nail Polish in Damsel-full size$3.99-vibrant fuchsia pink

Total value of April’s bag $51.99. I loved everything this month.  Nothing will be going to my niece’s goody bag this today.

In the photos I have on the eyeshadow, blush and eye primer.

Way to go Ipsy.com!

Men’s Underwear on Ebay-WTF?!?

So me and the hubby are shooting the breeze and he tells me he heard his co-worker sells men’s underwear on Ebay. What?!?!?  I guess he is trying to supplement his income. I did a quick search on Ebay, and the prices for men’s boxers were not that great. We’re talking like Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. Apparently this guy buys the skivvies directly from the manufacturer and then resells them.

I suppose if you have a crap load of kids you might need to save a few bucks on underwear, but then how could you see the people of Wal-mart if you are not there buying cheap underwear??

Five Facts About Me

  1. Creative Blogger Award 3-22-15I taught myself how to ride a motorcycle when I was 16. It was short lived, and my brothers (whose motorcycle I was riding never had a clue)

  1. I taught myself how to box when I was 10. I had two older brothers, whom I fought with all the time, and got tired of getting the crap beat out of me.

  1. Had a garage sale while my mom was at work, and sold a lot of my brother’s stuff. That will teach you for fighting with your little sister. Brothers never knew what happened, thought their stuff was stolen.

  1. The last fight I got into was because I was defending a friend who was being made fun of for being mentally incapacitated. My friend had fallen down her basement steps and was never the same after. She missed the entire sixth grade. The girl I fought with was saying horrible things about my friend. I told her to meet me by the creek, and I proceeded to beat the crap out of her.  The boxing skills came in quite handy.

  1. I was quite the little entrepreneur. I would go house to house in the neighborhood and sell stuff I had made. I’m sure our neighbors were wondering if my parents didn’t feed me or something, as I was always selling something. I started this when I was 7. My goal in life then was to earn money to go the drug store and buy as much penny candy as possible. As a result, I had a ton of cavities when I was a kid. I’m pretty sure my many visits to the dentist paid for his new car.

Here are the rules:

1.  Contact all of your nominees and notify them of their award.  You can pick as many blogs as you like, but five is the minimum.

2.  Give a shout-out to the blogger that nominated you and post a link to their website.

3.  Share five random facts about yourself.

4.  Display the Creative Blogger Award image above your post.

5.  Pass along these rules to the nominees.

I hope you enjoy this award and have fun nominating your top creative bloggers.

Another wonderful use for Argan oil!

Argan oil face_skin 3-9-15I used a few drops on my face right after I showered.   After about ten minutes, I put on my 30 SPF moisturizer as usual.  Then my liquid foundation. OMG!  My skin looked amazing.  I think the argan oil works better than a primer.  Every time I went to the bathroom today, (which is a lot because I have a bladder the size of a walnut) I couldn’t get over how good my skin looked.  My skin looked nice and dewy up until I took my make up off a little while ago.  I put my foundation on at 7 am, and took it off at 8 pm.  I also picked up some Almay stick concealer at the dollar store.  I don’t normally use stick concealer because it’s too heavy. Guess what? This stuff is great!  It worked really well under my eyes and around my nose.  It especially worked on the dent in my forehead.  Score one for Stacy!

Happy Monday!

This is how much I love Ipsy.com!

I was just checking my Ipsy.com account and saw that I’ve been a subscriber since December 2011!  I knew that I had been getting my Glam bags for a few years, but didn’t realize just how long. How cool is that??

I just updated my profile and got a sneak peek at my March package, and I’m getting some great stuff!  I’ll review as soon as I get my pretty hot pink package!Ipsy Image

Physicians Formula Nude Wear Glowing Nude Blush-Review

This new Physicians Formula Nude Wear blush is a great everyday color.   The blush has Nude Wear written on it in shimmer.  The shimmer quickly wears off.  The price was $12.99 at Ulta, but I paid $7.54 as it was a buy one get one 50% off, and I had an Ulta store coupon.

The color I have is Natural and it’s a great peachy color.  My go to color before was Clinique in New Clover. With the Physicians Formula, I barely have to sponge any off.  It’s a great color for my pale complexion.  It is very natural looking and fresh.  It gives me just the right amount of color.

I like that there are four colors in the palette.  I use all the colors together, but you could easily use each color separately. Well one of the colors is a highlighter.  The blush colors are very neutral, and the packaging is adorable.

I’m really digging Physicians Formula lately, and at such a great price, I’ll be saying Buh Bye to Clinique New Clover.
