Great info!

This blog post by the National Library of Australia provides a really interesting look into the process of designing book covers. With my interest in art this was a fun connection between two of my passions (the other being books of course!) It’s so fascinating to compare the different images and read about the […]

And so it begins………….

The Washington Post reports that Trump knew “for weeks” that Flynn lied. President Trump was aware that his national security adviser Michael Flynn had misled White House officials and Vice President Pence for “weeks” before he was forced to resign on Monday night. Trump was briefed by White House Counsel Don McGahn that Flynn had […]

MLK’s Daughter Just Defended Elizabeth Warren & Revealed How To Defeat Trump

Martin Luther King’s wife, Coretta Scott King, died in 2006 at age 78. Eleven years later a letter she penned objecting to Sen. Jeff Sessions’ 1986 nomination for a judgeship has gone viral. Her ever-pertinent words form a haunting bridge between the questionable cast of characters the 45th president has welcomed to the White House and the very real civil rights struggle of the nation’s recent past.

Republicans don’t like remembering those “uncomfortable parts” of black history — and Sessions’ ugly past — so much so that they’re willing to censor and attack anyone who seeks to memorialize it.

Bernice King took to Facebook to celebrate the reading of her mother’s letter by male Senators but was very angry at Mitch McConnell’s uncalled-for silencing of Sen. Elizabeth Warren. “Glad my mom’s words were finally read at #Sessionshearing by Senator Jeff Merkley but why was U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren silenced? Now is the time to defeat patriarchism and #letlizspeak” wrote Bernice on Facebook.

Now, as her mother’s words carry across the internet, King’s daughter is pushing forward an agenda for American’s to defeat the president’s hate regime. Bernice King posted the following 10 steps to resist the current regime on her “Be A King” Facebook page (follow it if you haven’t already).

The post was originally written by J. Jerrald Hayes.

1. Use his name sparingly so as not to detract from the issues. I believe that everyone, regardless of their beliefs, deserves the dignity of being called by their name. However, this is a strategic tactic. While we are so focused on him we are prone to neglect the questionable policies that threaten freedom, justice and fairness advanced by the administration.

2. Remember this is a regime and he’s not acting alone;

3. Do not argue with those who support him and his policies–it doesn’t work;

4. Focus on his policies, not his appearance and mental state;

5. Keep your message positive; those who oppose peace and justice want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;

6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;

7. Support artists and the arts;

8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;

9. Take care of yourselves; and

10. Resist!

Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, “When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you – pull your beard, flick your face – to make you fight! Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor.”

When you post or talk about him, don’t assign his actions to him, assign them to “The Republican Administration,” or “The Republicans.” This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don’t like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.

In honor of King’s poignant commandments, this article does not name the 45th president. Thinking positively, he will soon be the nation’s 45th former president, so long as Americans — both in positions of power and on the streets — continue to engage and resist his regressive agenda.

Equating bad polls with fake news, Trump further inflates his surrealistic bubble Guess Who Really Likes Gnathonics? Definition of gnathonic PRONUNCIATION: (na-THON-ik) MEANING: adjective: Sycophantic ETYMOLOGY: From Gnatho, a sycophant in the comedy Eunuchus (The Eunuch) by the Roman playwright Terence, written in 161 BCE. The name is coined from the Greek word gnathos (jaw). […]

California Brexit? Holy crap!

Donald Trump is threatening to cut funding to California. Brietbart News editor, and professional asshole Milo Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak about federal funding to UC campuses. A peaceful group of students assembled to protest the decision to give Yiannopoulos a platform, but the protest became when 100 outside agitators arrived, setting fires and causing […]

Ulta & Target haul 2-3-17

Happy Saturday!  I made my weekly visit to Ulta for some new products. Unfortunately for me, they only had one of the things I was looking for.  Lucky for me, Target is in the same strip mall. I love to try new products, and share the results.  I’m also very thrifty, so nothing was over $10.

First up Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer in Blonde. After reading some of the first reviews on Ulta, I was skeptical. The price is $9.99 USD, but I paid $8.04. My brows are non existent.  As I’ve gotten older, they have gotten thinner.  I wear glasses, so I usually just slap on some brow pencil and call it a day. This product works great! You have to make sure you wipe the tip off before applying.  I really like the color and it did indeed add volume.  Here is me with the product on one eye, and nothing on the other. My brows could probably look better, but my vision is really poor, and it’s hard to pluck them.

I color my hair myself, and have for several years. I usually do the roots only, but lately the color doesn’t last for very long. I’ve tried different root cover ups, but my with my hair color, I have a hard time finding a good match. Since I needed to spend another $5 to use my Ulta coupon, I decided on Toppik Hair Building Fibers in Light Brown for $7.95 USD, I paid $6.40USD. I have used Toppik in the past in medium blonde.  The light brown is perfect.  This is a travel size, but a great way to try out a color. My hair is fine, and when I straighten it, it looks pretty thin.  This helps to fill out sparse spots as well..

After I went to Ulta, Target was my next stop. Target has a great selection of e.l.f. products. I had read about this product e.l.f. Makeup Remover Pen from another beauty blogger. It was a whopping $3 USD.  It works really well. Since my eyelids are hooded, I am forever getting mascara on my upper lid.  This pen works great. I saw this same item on Amazon for $9.85. Target really has the best selection of e.l.f. products I’ve ever seen.

I had really hoped to get this next product at Ulta, but they are not carrying it yet. Aveeno Positively Radiant 60 second in-shower facial was $6.99 USD at Target. I had a coupon so I got it for $5.99 USD. I used it for the first time today. It was simply amazing! My skin was looking tired, and I don’t exfoliate as much as I should. I could tell a big difference after just one use. It’s a generous size at 5 ounces, and I only needed a small amount. This is my new favorite semi weekly cleanser.  You only need to use it twice a week. It contains soy and lemon peel extract. It has the 5 Factors of Radiance-tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness, and brown spots. My skin was so smooth!  I can’t wait to see how my skin looks in a few weeks.

Here’s me with my new brow product on, mini facial and Toppik!  Ready for a date with my hubby.  My dog Teddy was supervising.

Thanks for stopping by.

OMG! It’s more frightening than we thought!

tRump’s main goal is to destroy our way of life.  Regulations be damned, clean air, who needs it!  Same goes for water.  It’s all about how much money he and his cronies are going to make off of the U.S. citizens.

This is a useful record of the extraordinary steps taken by Trump during his first days in office. During the campaign, we learned that it was difficult to react to an outrageous statement because it was quickly succeeded by yet another one. Now, we find that each outrageous executive action is followed by yet another […]
